Hoidays at B'Nai Torah
Congregation B'nai Torah celebrates holidays through out the Jewish year. Participants come together from our religious school and our general congregation as we celebrate during services and religious school classes. See calendar for dates and times. Listed below are some, but not all, of Congregation B'Nai Torah's holiday tradiations that have been enjoyed through the years.
Rosh Hashana
The B'Nai Torah community comes together on this joyous holiday to reflect on the past year and to celebrate the hope of the new year.  We celebrate the new year with our annual Honey Cake Contest, taking place on Erev Rosh Hashana. Our contest is always a big hit and new cakes are always encouraged and welcomed.  Tashlich is done as a community at a nearby creek.  Our board sponsered luncheon welcomes all and concludes our holiday celebration.
Sukkot

Immediately following religious school, B'Nai Torah erects our Sukkah.  As the last nail is placed, the children begin to hang hand-made decorations.  Once the decorations have been carefully placed, the tradition of the blessing of the Sukkah is completed with the etrog and lulav.

Pesach Seder
Our community celebrates Pesach by remembering our Exodus from Egypt and the joys of Freedom at a community dinner each year, all are encouraged to participate and share experiences.
Yom Kippur

Our community joins together to attone for our mistakes of the past year and for support during the long fast.  A community nosh complete with lox and bagles breaks our fast and conlcudes the high holy days.

Chanukah
Celebrated during a community service, all our congregants bring their menorahs from home and we light them, all at once, in a festival of lights. Latkes and Gilt follow oneg.
Purim

Purim, the annual celebration from the book of Esther, finds the community dressed in various costumes ranging from clowns to princesses.  Our carnival attracks both the attention of the youth and adults of our community for gaming fun.  Activites include face painting, Twister, pie throwing and bowling.
